Rocking out with the Dum Dum Girls

I am very passionate about music, as well as female musicians and bands. I have liked the Dum Dum Girls for quite some time, but was able to see them for the first time just a couple months ago. Not only do they rock, but they also have great harmonious voices and style. The Dum Dum Girls consist of four ladies: Dee Dee, Frankie Rose, Jules, and Kitty.

Every show they play, they wear all black, which to me is a statement and a reflection of their music. Each Dum Dum Girl dresses in some sort of black, short, vintage-looking dress or skirt and patterned tights. Their sound and look remind me of something from the 1960s mixed with the 1980s. Dee Dee, Jules, and Frankie Rose all sing and when they harmonize, it is simply amazing! At the show, I couldn’t help but imagine what it would be like to be them. I thought about how crazy it would be to tour around the country with another group, Girls, who consist of four guys.

Dee Dee created the group and pulled the other three members from across the country. They had all been friends before DDG was created and Dee Dee knew that she had something great after hearing what they sounded like together. Their first single was "Jail La La", which is a fast-paced song that has great vocals and a beat. The Dum Dum Girls' album, I Will Be, came out on March 30th, 2010 and is absolutely great!

At the show, the Dum Dum Girls opened for Girls and set the tone for how the rest of the evening went. During the Girls performance, Jules and Kitty came into the crowd and were actually dancing and singing along right in front of me! I felt like I was a part of their group and equally as B.A.

I would highly suggest their album to anyone who likes a little rock ‘n’ roll in their life and enjoys the music from the 1960s era. These are four rocking ladies who not only have a great sense of style, but amazing talent and heart as well! Plus, I want the lead singer’s tights, but she never takes them off. Seriously. Check them out and listen to them while getting ready for a night out with your best girl friends!
