From June 11-July 11, soccer fans from around the globe will unite to witness some of the world’s best teams take the field at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. Teams from countries like Greece, Japan, Argentina, Ghana, New Zealand, and of course the United States of America will showcase spectacular athletes who will wow you with their sleek soccer moves and their awesome physiques. Even if you aren’t a soccer fan, you won’t want to miss out on all the action. To cash in on all of the excitement, why not throw a party for your friends, World Cup-style?

You don’t necessarily have to be glued to your TV watching each and every goal, but it’s sure fun to host a party that celebrates many different countries and cultures collaborating for the sake of soccer. Theme your party around this idea by offering cuisines and drinks that represent the countries who are participating in the World Cup. Think Greek pastries, French crepes, Japanese sushi, and you can even throw in some South African flare. Your guests will enjoy tasting the many different countries’ authentic dishes. Try selecting recipes that are simple, yet tasty.

Every party has to have a soundtrack. Believe it or not, the World Cup has its own soundtrack that you can purchase. Play this eclectic beat at your party to spice things up. You could even purchase songs from around the world on iTunes and compile your own global soundtrack.

Another element that you’ll want to consider when throwing a World Cup party is decorations. Fill the room with your favorite team’s colors, presumably red, white and blue. You can even dress in your team’s gear and paint your face just like the people do at the actual World Cup. The more you get into your theme, the more fun your guests will have.

So, if you’re looking for a way to add some pizzazz to your summer or you just need an excuse to throw a killer party, let the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa be your guide. Trust me, after you watch a little soccer, you’ll be hooked for life!
